In many ways, a lot of things make a person’s life memorable, among which are beauty, love, family, achievements and Humanitarian service to mankind. Of these though, Humanitarian service to mankind are perhaps the most fulfilling, which is why on Saturday, August 13, 2022, the Rotary Club of Maryland, District 9110 will be celebrating in grand style the investiture of Rotarian Rissy Taiwo as the 21st Hope President of the club.
Rotarian Rissy Taiwo’s tenure as a female President coincides with that of Rotarian Jennifer E. Jones, a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, as Rotary International’s President for 2022-2023 Rotary year, a groundbreaking selection that makes her the first woman to hold that office in the organization’s 117-year history. This also extends to Rotary International District 9110 having her first female District Governor in over 41years of existence in the person of Rotarian Omotunde Lawson, FCAi, aka Koseleri. The much anticipated gathering, expecting to be high profile event, will take place at Balmoral Hall, Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos will also witness the induction of the club’s Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 Rotary Year and, Fund-Raising for Humanitarian Service Projects.
Special Guest of Honour and Guest Speaker expected to grace the occasion are: Hon. Dr. Kayode Opeifa; {Former Lagos state Transportation Special Adviser and Commissioner}, Hon. Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun {Member, Lagos state House of Assembly}, Oba Adetoun Aremu Gbadebo III, CFR, The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland as {Royal Father of the Day}, Oba Prof. Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege, Olota of Ota and Oba (Dr.) Ade-Oriyomi Akeem, Oyebo II, Obateru of Egbin Kingdom as the {Royal Guests of Honour}.
An exemplary member of the club, Rotarian Rissy Taiwo is a woman whose deeds as a Humanitarian precedes her emergence as president. At the Rotary Club of Maryland, she has held several positions among which are chairman Youth Activities, chairman Investiture, chairman History and Archives, Vice President and now President. In preparation for a life of service to humanity, Taiwo is dedicated to humanitarian services, a RYLA awardee. She has attended several Rotary conferences and Conventions which held in Birmingham, Atlanta, and Toronto.
Rtn. Rissy Taiwo is a holder of two masters degree – MA International Human Resource Management and LLM – International and Commercial Law from the prestigious University of Greenwich, London, United Kingdom.
She’s blessed with two lovely children.
