What shall I say unto the Lord ,……. all I have to say is thank you Lord !
It is said that gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.
I hope this comes to manifest as I take stock of events of the last few days, which went down in history as yet another day that we affirm our resolve as a people to keep grinding, the wheel of progress of our beloved Ojokoro Local Council Development Area.
First and foremost, utmost praises and adoration goes to God Almighty for His divine intervention, mercy and favour in all my human endeavours.
Similarly, my profound gratitude goes to our indefatigable leader and builder of great men, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jargaban of Borgu Kingdom, for his uncompromising position on upholding the tenets of our nascent democracy.
Furthermore, special thanks to our ever proactive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu and his ever dependable deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat for their exemplary and sterling leadership, in providing enabling environment for democracy to thrive, particularly in Lagos state.
Lest I forget to express my profound gratitude to my amiable and highly esteemed brother, Hon. Tayo Ayinde, the Chief of Staff to “Mr. Governor”, for his wonderful support.
Also, I appreciate all our party leaders and EXCO members in the state and Ikeja division in particular, most importantly, our highly esteemed speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Ajayi Obasa; Honourable member of the Federal House of Representatives (Ifako-ijaiye constituency), Hon. James Owolabi; all distinguished members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, most importantly, Hon. (Tpl) Rasheed Olanrewaju Makinde; Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji (a.k.a ATA) and other leaders, for their undying passion for entrenching fairness, justice and transparency.
Also, with a heart full of love, I thank all our highly respected party leaders, EXCO members both at the local and ward levels in Ojokoro LCDA and many others, whose names are too numerous to mention, that gallantly stood on the side of truth and continuity of the progressive strides we have recorded over the time.
This message will be incomplete without extending my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude to all other Chairmanship aspirants in Ojokoro LCDA for their gallantry display of spirit of sportsmanship before, during and after the primary election and faithful acceptance of its outcome.
Please, kindly permit me to use this medium to congratulate you all for the successful conduct of the primary election, as I urge every contestants to close ranks and join forces together to work collectively, in order to ensure landslide victory for our great party in the local government election scheduled to hold in the next few weeks.
Furthermore, I wish to appreciate all my numerous supporters and loyalists for their resilience and uncompromising stand, even in the face of threats and provocation of all sorts.
Most importantly, I thank all registered members of our great party across the seven wards, who trooped out in large numbers, despite the unfriendly weather, to exercise their rights in streghten internal democracy in our party by participating in the primary election.
In fact, only few things summed up my experiences in the last few days and that is, to continue to be an apostle of peace, advocate of positive development, irrepressible democat, a true progressive, and never to stop in “putting the people first” in my call to service.
Finally, I wish to appeal to all our loyal and patrotic party members in Ojokoro LCDA to embrace one another in peace and love; we should eschew bitterness and acrimony, but see all the past events as a test of our strength in being together in unity, regardless of our diversity.
Let us embrace peace, love and unity and believe in the fact that “in unity we stand, divided we fall” as there is “no victor, no vanquish”, but see ourselves as heroes of true democracy.
We should continue to work together in peace and harmony, in order to make our party become more greater and stronger.
I want to thank you all for the trust and confidence reposed in me, as well as the great opportunity to serve you for a second term, in order to double our dividends of democracy as the good work continues!
With the mandate for a second term, I wish to assure you of running an all-inclusive government, with open door policy, honesty and accountability.
In fact, I can not thank you enough, as I say “big thank you” once again, God bless you all.
Hon. Hammed Idowu D. Tijani (H.I.D)
